On Sunday, the Dutch organization Dutch Robot Games organized an arena battle between Dutch, German and Belgian robots. "Who will win? Usually the Germans. "

27 robots participated in the fighting. They were put into a giant translucent box, three at a time, where they had to try to take each other apart. "That can be done by hitting them against the wall, or by immobilizing him," said Marien van der Meer of Robot Wars. "It can also be done by pushing the robot into the pit, but they do not have one here."

Flippers en spinners
The team of Van der Meer is called FFR. "That stands for Fierce Fighting Robots", he says. "My son is now driving one of our robots."
With all its possibilities and looks, the robot is built in four to eighteen months. There are flippers, trying to throw the opponent up so he comes down with a loud bang and is annihilated, and spinners. "Spinners have rotating, razor-sharp blades that do much harm. But the robots have evolved so much in recent years that they can all take a beating. It often comes down to the jury to decide who is the best."

Participants in Robot Wars look somewhat boring, compared to the rest. They're fiddling with their small iron murder machines with screwdrivers and are typing on their laptop. "Usually we are at car shows and modeling events," said Van der Meer. "Or we organize something ourselves."

Doorgaans winnen Enigma en Adrenalin, toch? :-)
Dit keer waren het een Belg, een Nederlander en twee Duitsers. Anyway, je weet hoe het gaat met journalisten en humor.
