Post by Friet » Wed May 05, 2004 4:08 pm

Hi allen,

Cheers,

Hi fellow roboteers :)

I guess this is about the FRA forum. Can not read anything other than English it but it looks like you have found the link to access it.

I hope it comes back soon or us brits will be lost until something replaces it. I don't now all the facts but there is, how can a put it, heated debates going on within the FRA and I'm sure we will find out what is going on.

Have looked around a bit and what I think is the live events section seems to have alot going on. I would like to go to some events over here this year but need to find out some information. Can anyone help?

PS. Is there an English section on here?

Dear FRA Forum User

I'm sure you have noticed that the FRA Forum has been inaccessible from its usual URL of www.fightingrobots.co.uk

We are currently working to deal with the problem causing this lack of service and can only apologise to you for the inconvenience caused.

In the meantime, you can still access the forum via this link

http://www.extremefightingmachines.co.u ... discus.cgi

Again we offer our apologies for the problems which will be resolved as soon as possible.

Hi Mark (i assume it is Mark),

Most of us already know the link to the forum so no real damage there, but is anyone able to tell when the static content is going to be restored?

I've posted the fightingrobot site on several mailing lists and an absence of the site might be confusing to others.

There's not realy an english section, because if we need to contact British roboteers we usually go to the FRA forum. But you are welcome to guess what we are talking about anyway. :)

I've always used the www.fightingrobots.co.uk/forum link before and it took me a while to figure out that the problem wasn't my side.

English people (including me) assume everyone else speaks english so don't bother to learn another language :) . Never the less there is always web page translaters to do that job for us even if they are not very good it is still possilbe to pick out some information though.

Allthough I've known about this site for a while I've never really looked at it before and I must say this forum seems much better than the FRA one. Just don't tell them I said that :)

Hi Mark! Welcome aboard.
Other forum's should break down more often ;)

Oh, and this is a standard forum package. I have no idear why the FRA forum had to roll they're own.

I was more amazed to find that Five TV had such a bad forum.

I like the FRA forum style, although i like this format better.

Definitely their own reasons, let's not speculate yet and wait for explanations. (Voor de goede verstaander ook een spellingstip of twee in dit antwoord !)

Ik weet niet precies wat er aan de hand is en zolang ik niet van alle betrokken partijen iets gehoord heb ga ik niet speculeren.

...Hello Mark

To give you some info on event being held in Holland:

15/05: Demo's in Trapman Complex in Schagen North Holland, This will be a small event held bij our crazy friends from pulverizer (you know those guys who say they are elvis and have a reddisch robot which presumeable can spin (the disc I mean) )
31/05: Demo's in Boekelo bij Conrad, also a small event held bij Conrad one of our sponsors. There will be all sorts of radio controlled stuff there but it is outdoors.
01/08: Demo's in Enschede (Don't know the background of this event)

It isn't much for the moment but I'm sure that the DRG are busy with this (or their robots). I did hear them say something about a bigger event in Belgium, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Reason why FRA uses the discus forum :

Because the old green on black robotwars forum ran on the same discus software, and the FRA guys wanted the forum members to have a familiar feel with the new forum... Bad choice, If you ask me.
